On Monday 4th December, our A team earnt a place in the GSFA county football finals.
They played 3 matches against other district winners and then progressed to the semi-finals. This match ended in a draw so was decided by a penalty shootout. Aimee our GK made 3 amazing saves and we scored 4 out of 5 shots against them, which put us through to the finals.
The playing conditions were very wet and cold but this did not dampen their spirits; determination and team spirit kept them going right to the very end. Even though they had many goal mouth scrambles and attempts on goal, the opposition managed to score two good goals from a distance, which put us in the runners up position.
I am extremely proud of what SVPS girls’ football A team have achieved - they should be so proud of themselves. They have shown great resilience, self-belief and outstanding football skill, and have clearly put SVPS girls' football on the map! This achievement is even more amazing by the fact that only 3 out of the 8 girls play football outside of school. and have only started playing football when they joined the SVPS football club. They have gelled so well as a team and are so very supportive and encouraging towards each other. Thanks, must also go to the parents for lifts and support on the sidelines.
A pleasure to coach, thank you and well done to: Aimee, Rosie, Alisha, Mia, Zofia, Sophia, Harriet and Bella.
